The Aurora International Fashion Week will happen in St. Petersburg, with the support of the Government of Saint-Petersburg, from 10 to 16 October 2011.
Aurora Fashion Week Russia was initiated in the status of the International Fashion Week in St. Petersburg and is one of the key activities of Russia in the field of culture and the fashion industry. The high regional significance of the Week, its position in the context of the-art fashion industry defines Russia's unique status, which was found through a dialogue between culture, art and fashion.
The new season of Aurora Fashion Week Russia is synchronized with the fashion calendar of the world, which is the basis for the formation of the Week as one of the most important events in the fashion industry in Eastern Europe.
The new season of the Fashion Week will be visited by more than 80 fashion-industry professionals, including producers of international fashion weeks, buyers, journalists, designers and stylists as well as celebrity-bloggers. Traditionally, the visitors of Aurora Fashion Week Russia will stay in the best hotels in the city- W-St.Petersburg and Angleterre, which are the objects of culture of St. Petersburg.

The memorial evening of Luciano Pavarotti
The evening in memory of the great tenor Luciano Pavarotti will take place in the St.Petersburg Concert hall Oktyabrsky on October 10, 2011. The best students of the great maestro will perform on the stage of the hall. Four years ago, the world bade it’s last farewell to Luciano Pavarotti, the great Italian tenor and one of the most famous performers of our time in the world. There will be two concerts dedicated to the memory of the great tenor. Both will take place in the large concert venues of Moscow and St. Petersburg. The initiator of the event is the widow of Luciano Pavarotti - Mrs. Nicoletta Mantovani, who will attend both concerts in Russia.
St.Petersburgers and guests of the city are invited to visit the sailing ship "Sedov"
The largest sailing ship in the world - the barque "Sedov" had dropped its anchor on the main waterway of St. Petersburg. There will be several public events on board, which can be attended by anyone. St. Petersburgers and the guests of the city may visit the famous ship freely on October 8 and 9. Visitors will see the photo exhibition "The unknown planet: Earth people" onboard of the ship. The photos of the exhibition were shoot during the expedition to Papua - New Guinea. Also there will be a dance marathon for the Cup of the barque "Sedov" today on the deck of "Sedov", which will bring together more than twenty pairs of club-hustle dance from Moscow and St. Petersburg. And, on October 9th, there will happen a competition of drawings of children aged 6 to 18 years - "Around the World 2012". All the participants will get the memorable gifts, and the winners will get the prizes. In addition, on board the "Sedov" will happen the premiere of the documentary movie "Lost tribe or black and white bull" devoted to the expedition of Vladimir Bulatovic in Ethiopia, and the documentary "The Eternal Wanderer", filmed during a trip to India. The ship is moored at the quay of Lieutenant Schmidt. The sailship "Sedov" will stay in St. Petersburg until October 11.
Concert of the band Blackmore's Night in the Concert Hall Oktyabrsky in St.Petersburg
“Blackmore's Night” is a folk-rock band, that is inspired by the music of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. It was founded by the legendary guitarist Ritchie Blackmore (ex. Deep Purple, Rainbow) and his wife, singer Candice Night. The band will perform a concert in Russia with the presentation of the 7th studio album «Autumn Sky», devoted to the birth of the main inspirer of the last album – the daughter of the leaders of the band - Autumn Esmeralda. The group had began its life in 1997, recording their first studio album «Shadow of the Moon». After the release of the first album, Blackmore and Night have been recognized in Japan and Germany and well known as a band, performing folk-rock music. In 2000, followed the release of second album «Under A Violet Moon», which was highly appreciated among the students all over the world.
Visiting the concert of Blackmore's Night, you will plunge into the ineffable atmosphere of the Middle Ages and enjoy the amazing music and talented musicians. Concert in support of latest album of the group will be held on September 25 in St.Petersburg (Concert Hall "Oktyabrsky"). Visitors of the concert are welcome to wear the medieval-style clothing, or, the traditional evening suits.
Business Hotel "Karelia" in St. Petersburg may get into the Guinness Book of Records for the unusual painting on it’s façade
The "Business Hotel Karelia", located in the east of St. Petersburg, can get into the Guinness Book of Records for the original painting of it’s façade, representing the suitcase, was reported by the press-service of the administration of Krasnogvardeisky district of St.Petersburg.
The press release tells, that the 12 thousand square meters of the 16-story facade of the hotel on Toukhachevskogo street may be painted in October 2011. In November, the project is scheduled to be presented to the public.
“The project of the hotel building was designed in 1978. The young modern artists of St.Petersburg had proposed to paint the façade of the building in the form of suitcases. The art paintings on the hotel facades is not just drawing on the building – it is the creation of a complete image, a new form of art in the architecture of modern cities in the world, a so-called mural art. The project will become a new landmark of the district and the City "- says the press-release.
In addition, the administration hopes that the picture of "Suitcases" may be the biggest in the world, and the project is eligible for entry into the Guinness Book of Records. The report notes that the record will be registered by an official commission of the Guinness book at the opening ceremony of the project.
